A museum guide in every visitor's pocket.

WUK guides visitors through museums, exhibitions and trade-fair stands on their own phone. We built the platform behind it: the web app where an organisation builds its tours, and everything that gets that content to the visitor.

  • Walk past a beaconA Bluetooth beacon with a trigger distance the editors set.
  • Type a numberLike on a classic audio guide.

The problem

WONDA, the company behind WUK, wanted museums and exhibitors to build and update their own tours, in several languages, without calling a developer.

An editor without code

In the web app, an organisation decides per object what sets it off: a photo of the painting for image recognition, a Bluetooth beacon with a trigger distance, or a plain number like on an old audio guide. On top of that it stacks text, audio, video, slideshows and quizzes.

Rules turn it into more than a list. Editors set up "play this audio once object X is scanned" or "show object Z after three scans" themselves, and short surveys catch what visitors thought.

AI in the editor

Generating text from a few keywords, or rewriting it simpler, more narrative or more educational: it's built into the editor. Translating a whole tour takes one click and works for any language, right-to-left ones included.

Voices come from ElevenLabs. Before narration, the system rewrites the text phonetically, spelling out years and adding pronunciation hints where they're needed. Anyone who prefers their own voice simply uploads a recording.

Under the hood

Every museum or organisation gets its own database. Publishing sends the content to a CDN, encrypted and versioned, along with an offline pack per language, so the app keeps working in a basement with no signal.

Visitor statistics run on Elasticsearch: visitors per day and per tour, popular objects, languages and a view of the busiest hours. When a visitor asks to have their data removed, one button does it.

Where it stands

The app has been in the App Store and on Google Play since 2022. In 2025 we added AI voices, offline packs, automatic triggers and richer statistics, and the platform now runs on Laravel 12.
